History
1n 1959 the 5th Field Signal Company was established based in Sligo as a reserve unit of an Forsa Cosanta Aituail (FCA).
In 1998 the amalgamation of the Signal Corps and Military Information Systems resulted in a change of name to the 54th Field CIS Coy. This subsequently changes to the 54th Reserve CIS Coy in 2005 with reorganisation of the FCA into the RDF
The 2013 the reorganisation of the Reserve Defence Forces resulted in the disestablishment of the unit with the remaining members transferring into the reserve platoon of the 28th Inf Bn.
