Depot Signals came into being with the army re-organisation of 1931. It consisted of a headquarters, radio workshops and technical stores all located in the Curragh Camp. In 1932 the School moved to the Curragh Camp from Portobello Barracks. The Radio Workshop was to follow in 1938 when it moved to Alexandra House on Art McMurrrough Hill . On 23 March 1939 the School of Signals was incorporated into Depot Signals. The routine order setting up the new unit provides a complete list of the officers, NCOs and men serving the Signal Corps in the Curragh Camp at that time.
In 1946 No.1 Garrison Company became the Garrison Signal Platoon of Depot Signals. This platoon was disbanded in 1977 with the establishment of 6th Fd Signal Coy.
Depot Signals was disbanded on 1 November 1998 when the Curragh Camp became Defence Forces Training Centre (DFTC).
