6th Field Signal Coy was established in 1942 as part of II "Spearhead" Division. It was dis-established in the reorganisatoion of 1946.
It was re-established in 1977 as a unit of the Curragh Command upon the dis-establishment of the Garrison Platoon of Depot Signals.
On 1 November 1998 the 6th Field Signals Company was reduced to a CIS detachment of 28 all ranks and became part of the Service S
upport Unit (SSU).
